Experience Summary
Taught at two colleges in Mombasa, Kenya for 5 1/2 years. Memon college under the Memon board of Education and Jaffery institute of professional studies under the Khoja Itna Asheri Board of Education. Joined Tennessee state University where I pursued another Major in Special Education. I taught under Metro Nashville Public schools for for short while at Neely's Bend Middle school. Since 2011 I have been working as a full time teacher under Clarksville Montgomery county schools as a behavior support Program Teacher. I have been successful in preparing students in transition back to regular education. I continue to work with them on a regular basis, but it has been interesting working with them on a regular basis. One of the important challenges is to have them turn their behavior around so that they can cope with their colleagues in the regular education setting. I have also been excited about tutoring college students from business subject areas9Accounting and statistics) with 100% success and I am proud of my contribution towards improving student achievement and success.
Teaching Style
Used what appears to work best for students. With all methods involved such as direct instruction, small groups and monitoring.
Also engaged students in peer tutoring where that appears to work best for students with low ability to comprehend and understand the basics. Also observed was involving parents in homework assignments.Students who appear to have had a constant outstanding behavior, attendance and complete their assignments are assigned some assignments in the resource class to enable them interact with other students and know that they can make it outside the moderate intervention services class.
