I am a dynamic, reliable, and effective teacher of world languages available to tutor learners of all ages. I am a licensed French teacher with Bachelor’s degree from Concordia College in Moorhead, MN, experience at the Concordia Languages villages, and also have experience teaching first and second year Spanish. I have taught all levels and ages from French I-V and 2nd semester college French, fifth grade through adults. I enjoy teaching lower levels of Spanish as well. Teaching Style
Various qualities, experiences, and priorities make me an ideal candidate for working with young people. My verbal and written communication skills, creativity , and ability to assess problems and propose solutions help make me an effective teacher. My strengths include accommodating a variety of learning styles through a broad range of activities and strategies; fostering an open, cooperative rapport; giving students experiences of success; and maintaining an open and flexible mind, one which adapts to students’ needs, evolves, and promotes evolution of ideas and abilities. I am committed to delivering the language through varied, meaningful, comprehensible input, imitating the natural way in which a first language is acquired. Learning a language students develop effective communication skills in the target language and overall, and in this way I hope to nurture them to become productive global citizens. Creativity, sensitivity to other cultures, and problem-solving are some skills and interests I develop through teaching. Love of variety propels me in many interests, and when paired with knowledge of brain research and language acquisition, drives me through my twin priorities in language teaching: proficiency and motivation.
