Experience Summary
As you would be able to confirm on my resume, my experience in various fields have prepared me to adapt myself to different environments. I believe this is a very important trait considering that teaching is an area in which you need to have an excellent capacity for adaptation.
While in France, I have worked as a (voluntary) teacher and tutor in many different domains such as: Biology, Computer Sciences, French as a Second Language (FSL) and Swimming. Moreover, I have alphabetized people without previous education.
At the moment, I am teaching French, Biology, Microsoft Office Applications and Business Mathematics, and I have been doing this job for one year since I am always looking for new opportunities to share and to improve my knowledge.
Teaching Style
Based on my own experience as a student and as a teacher, I feel confident when I say that what matters is not really the amount of knowledge you have but your capacity to transmit the knowledge on the given subject. Therefore, I count patience and adaptation as the most important qualities for tutoring. If you are not capable to transmit your knowledge, then there is no point on teaching!
In addition, most students lack self-confidence, so I do my best to rebuild that confidence within themselves by showing them that they are capable of doing it.
I consider that it's not up to the student to adapt himself to the teacher, but it's the teacher who has to adapt his teaching method to each particular student.
Thus, I feel satisfied when one of my students is able to explain to another student what I just taught him because that means I did my job: transmitting my knowledge.
