Experience Summary
Upon my entry to college, I was unsure which direction I wanted to take my educational, as well as career, path. I had always enjoyed the rewarding experience of working with children, as well as exploring my creative abilities. After building a strong liberal arts foundation I began to study education and art more in depth. I believe creativity of the arts, as well as the use of creative problem solving and thinking skills are integral components of developing a young mind. I have worked as an elementary school art teacher, servicing 700 students, as well as head of a state mandated tutoring program focusing on 3rd-5th grade ELA and Math exams.
Teaching Style
I believe all children have the capacity to learn. I find it is important to facilitate learning experiences which appeal to most, if not all, of the multiple intelligences. Individuals of all ages and levels have strangths and weaknesses. My mission as an educator is to implement appropriate lessons, and help support the academic and personal growth of each child. A classroom may hold 30 individual learners, but my goal is to present each lesson using various entry points in order to assure success for each individual.
