Experience Summary
Through my education I have learned the importance of inspiring others to take an interest in science. My time at these universities has also enabled me to not only learn the material taught in them but also how to apply that knowledge to situations that were not included in lecture. My educational background includes biology, genetics, ecology, chemistry (basic-organic), environmental sciences and policy, and laboratory work associated with these subjects. Beyond schooling I have experience teaching swimming lessons to people of all ages (infant to adult). These included private and group lessons along with lessons geared towards children with physical or mental challenges.
Teaching Style
My teaching style tends to be structured in the beginning as I get to know each students strengths and weaknesses and then adapts to each persons needs. I believe that everyone has their own learning style and try to present the material in a manner that encompasses auditory instruction, visual aids, as well as, hands on experience. The benefit of science as a subject matter is that what we know science has been found through hands on experiments. By allowing people to do experiments they will not only remember the material better and have a sense of accomplishment but they will also become scientists without realizing it.
