For the past ten years, I have been teaching High School English. I have taught grades 9-12 in Literature, Composition and Standards of Learning in preparation for the state exams. I have taught inclusion classes involving students with numerous learning styles and have always met and exceeded the expectations of their parents. My style of teaching is centered around three basic concepts. I began working in the field of education nearly 4 years ago. I began to substitute and found that I enjoyed working with high school aged students. In 2007, I graduated from Penn State with a plan of attending graduate school for Creative Writing. I was devastated when I received three rejection letters from schools I admired. Instead of letting that devastation break me down, I accepted a job as an SAT/ACT Preparation Teacher at a learning center. After several weeks of successful, inspiring interactions with high school students in one-on-one sessions, I knew that the circuitous path that led me to this job was truly my destiny: I was meant to be a teacher.
