My student body comprised mainly of adults who went through cultural assimilation and of students who learned the language in order to apply to German Universities. I am an experienced Latin teacher with a BA in Classics from the University of Tennessee and an MA in Classics from the University of Virginia. I have also traveled extensively throughout the Mediterranean to study and excavate the physical remains of classical antiquity. My teaching career began at the University of Virginia. As a graduate teaching assistant, I taught sections of first and second year Latin to undergraduates. After graduating, I taught Latin for three years at Bethel High School in Hampton, Virginia. At Bethel, I also sponsored the Latin Club and Junior Classical League chapter and created a very successful after school ancient Greek program for motivated Latin students. I want to help and make a difference in each student that I tutor. I like to reach out to all of my students. I learn each of my students name and have them see that I want them to well. I also feel that students should be given assignments to work on during class and not lectured the entire time. I have always had a passion for teaching and helping to educate people. I have earned a BS in Business Administration and a MS in Accounting. Through my education and experience I have an extensive set of business and grammar skills. I have completed four years of Latin and enjoyed it. During high school I took AP History and Government and past the AP Exam. I have been a teacher in public schools, private schools and college . Retired in 2007 from Newport News Public Schools with 24 years experience. Now working part time in a Catholic school in the mornings during the school year.I am available in the summer and most afternoons during the school year. I don't mind tutoring on a part-time basis to get ready for a big test or just catch-up. I have lived in Spain for 9 months where I became fluent in Spanish. I also speak French.
