I use American Sign Language as my primary source for communication, I grew up at a deaf school and come from a deaf family, I am also hard of hearing with a 6th generation of hearing loss in my family.

I have done a lot of teaching and tutoring, both with adults and young people. Most of my experience, though, comes from working with high school and junior high school students. I spent the majority of that time as a tutor/ mentor and would work with the students one on one or in small groups, both in the library or in the classroom. It was really the most wonderful experience and I was able to provide tremendous benefits to the students on both an academic and personal level. I really do place something of a premium on being able to connect with all of my students on an academic and personal level. I believe that this helps them as they know that their teacher and tutor cares about them and their future and, as such, this causes them to grow and excel. In the past while at the University of Wyoming I had extensive one on one tutoring sessions with both college students and HS students (AP students).
