Since earning my Bachelors Degree from the University of Utah in Music Composition I have produced a Christmas album of piano arrangements, and original songs. It was played on two local radio stations, and will soon be available on cdbaby.net, itunes, amazon, facebook etc. I composed, produced, recorded, and edited the score for a movie entitled "The Measure of a Man: the story of Charles Coulsen Rich, Apostle of God" produced by Lee Groberg and Mark Goodman. My teaching style consist of using a variety of learning technique and atmospheres. It is a good idea to study the habits and styles of other composers, classical and modern to get an idea of how that compares to the student's style. Writing or composing sample songs based on someone else's style is a good idea, such as Beethoven, or David Newman, etc. Using theory practice is useful, but doesn't necessarily define a composer.
