I recently graduated from Brigham Young University in April 2011. I am a graduate in Communications can help in English, Writing, Editing but also took AP Calculus and AP Statistics and passed both tests. I love math but feel that communicating through writing is very important. During the last two years I have worked at an Elementary School as Para Professional tutoring children in Math and Reading both in small groups and one-on-one. I love helping children learn! Building a good relationship with a child is key to helping them learn. When good relationships are developed children can then trust the teacher or tutor to help them in whatever way possible. This relationship builds a good emotional bank account and children will do hard things when asked. I know that all children can learn. I have seen it while working with the wonderful children at the school I worked at.

As a graduate with my BA in English I have developed by ability to discuss and discover new solutions and alternative ideas. This has also inhanced my skills in communication, both oral and written. Over the past year I have also done substitute teaching at a local charter school. This experience has furtherd my desire to interact and contribute to our youth. In the pursuit of my own education I have learned that a teacher who is truly in this field because they love it are the ones who are best at it. That dedication stays with students for a lifetime. I enjoy working with parents and children in facilitating their child's success. I believe in more of a kinesthetic approach and feel that children learn best 'hands-on.' During my four years at Case Western Reserve University, I became aware of the needs of the city schools in the area and worked to help improve the situations in the schools. I worked with AmericaREADS, OhioREADS and other similar programs to help tutor children who were not able to get the individual attention they needed in the classroom. Because of my background in engineering, I am excellent in math and science but I also enjoy helping in reading, writing, and assisting the children in enhancing their studying skills.
