Once while subbing, I entered a classroom where the students had been allowed to watch Jerry Springer on TV for the last two weeks. I couldn't let this continue, but I saw how emotional the class was about the show. I encouraged them to write their own talk show and told them we would perform it the next day. I find that connecting student's interest with the subject matter to be learned is the best way to teach. After completing my undergraduate degree in English Literature at Florida State University, I worked as a substitute teacher in Hillsborough County for two years. I find that each teaching style has to be tailored to the student's learning style which can range from a heavily structured plan involving memorization and repetition to a more relaxed approach involving a more fun approach. The one thing that remains the same no matter what teaching style is being employed is that clear and reachable goals must be set for the time given. I have been editing my peer's work since my freshman year of high-school in 2004. My studies have included the mechanics of writing, the structure of grammar stemming from a Latin background and Literature ranging from the earliest forms of writing ( the Epic of Gilgamesh) to the post-modernists (Crying of Lot 49) with a special emphasis in both Shakespeare and Milton.
