My name is McCrae Mower, and I am currently a sophomoere at Minnetonka High School. I have been involved with tutoring for the last two years. I am part of an activity called "Backpack Tutoring." This program is a weekly volunteer experience to travel to an elementary school in Downtown Minneapolis. The program helps me to tutor students in grades K-5. My passion is helping struggling readers become successful. I know how difficult it is for learners who do not like to read. Struggling readers who do not like to read have common characteristics. The most dominate characteristic is that they avoid reading at all cost. They avoid it because they have come to think they are not good at it and cannot do it.
