Math and English are my best subjects. I have tutored many students at my school and young children. I do extremely well in English and algebra and enjoy it very much. In high school, I graduated second in my class. I took as many AP courses as possible (and exams) and scored either a 4 or 5 on all of them. I currently attend Georgia Tech. In college, I took the basic requirements of calculus I and calculus II along with basic programming. I am currently majoring in economics and international affairs, and going into my last year prior to graduation. I most comfortable helping with high school level material versus college level due to the specificity of my major. I like to take multiple approaches. It usually depends on the person. If they learn better with repetition or application or memorization then that would be the approach I would take. If I do not know the answer, I will find out.

When I worked for the agency, I decided to give artificial money to the clients that had mental illness and mental retardation so they could learn how to count money. When the agency informed me that they couldn't buy the artificial money, I was willing to pay for it. It is important that they learn how to count money in order to pay bills or buy food. Needless to say, my outcome was successful, and they were able to learn how to count well using artificial money. In another situation, I used photos to help a client who had mental retardation, and amazingly he learned well. As the elder of my family,after I graduated from High School with a good GPA, I started tuturing my youngest sisters at home. Their grades in French improved and their teachers, and classmates were surprised. They asked them how they got help to improved so good; my sisters told them about me. Then, I've been contacted by some of French teachers in their school who asked me to become assistant. I've been trained for 1 month then I started tutoring students in French. For 2 years, my classes had always succeed and one my student won a competition in French grammar. I reaaly enjoyed it because I like help others.

Each student has their own specific learning style, but overall my style is gentle encouragement while trying to lead the student to their own conclusions, rather than providing them with answers. I prefer it when students make their own discoveries with guidance, rather than relying on rote memorization or lecture. I am a college graduate with a bachelor's degree in English Literature and a minor in Secondary Education. I have been a participating observer in multiple high school and junior high classrooms and spent much of that time assisting students with their assignments. I find it rewarding when a student who was previously struggling with an assignment can make a breakthrough or discovery with a little assistance. I have also completed coursework regarding inclusion and learning disabilities.

Everyone learns in different ways. And if a subject is already difficult, why make it worse? I like to find out what works best for the people I'm tutoring so we can start off on the right foot. I find a relaxed atmosphere is best so that the student knows I am a resource for them to draw from and not just an instructor. I worked with many different types of students while I was employed at Victoria College from 2007-2008. I did ESL tutoring for people from Iran, Philippines, Mexico, China, and Turkey. I also worked with remedial students who were just learning to write essays, and adults who had decided to come back to college and were a little rusty. Other students were those who kept making B's in their classes, and just needed a bit of help to get the A's they desired.
