I have over thirty years experience both as a teacher and an Administrator. I have taught in Tampa, Florida for 18 years. I was an Assistant Principal for 7 years. After relocating to Georgia in 2006, I taught in Savannah for 7 years. The last school I taught at was Garrison School of Visual and Performing Arts. I recently taught middle school Language Arts, Social Studies, and Reading in Tattnall County for three years. I am now the Principal of my own nonprofit Christian school- New Direction Christian Academy, in Statesboro, Georgia. My teaching experiences include: 6th grade- 1981-1982 at Wimauma Elementary in Tampa, Florida; 4th grade- 1982-1989- Forest Hills Elementary, 4th grade- 1989-1992-Tampa Palms Elementary, 3rd grade-5th grades- 1992-1999. I was promoted to Assistant Principal-ship in 1999, and served in that capacity at three schools. Namely, Forest Hills Elementary for six years and Kingswood Elementary for one year. My duties as an Assistant Principal, were multi-faceted. This entailed student discipline- when there was an infraction of the rules, communication with parents by phone and letters, conducting meetings with my Principal, teachers, parents, and the community at large.
Teaching Style
I utilize a variety of teaching styles in reaching my students. These include, hands-on, self-discovery, and coaching. Technology is also an important part of successful teaching and learning.
