Experience Summary
During high school, my grades put me in a position that led to people asking for help studying or answering homework questions. With my mom being a teacher, over the years I learned how to help and tutor others in a way that stuck with them. The last semester of senior year I interned at the Elementary School across from the high school in a kindergarten class. Taking over the teaching of different centers taught me how elementary aged children learn and also how to keep their attention. Once I reached college, I started to help other students write and edit their English papers, walked through the way I take notes to keep my attention during lectures, and how to respond to exam questions; even if you don't actually know the answer.
Teaching Style
My teaching style is a mixture of all learning styles because that is how I learn. Explanations and examples are important as well as having a hands on approach to learning. It makes it more permanent so you can actually learn instead of just copy answers. Repetition works vocabulary while creating a short story works with memorizing speeches or historical events. I am a firm believer that there are dumb questions, but they still should be asked. In all of my current and past classes, I would always appreciate a teacher who could have patience with my questions, even if they were dumb. To say I am patient is true, but there is a point when there is too much time being spent with nothing to show for it. That is why a balance should always be kept when teaching and learning.
