About Me

Experience Summary

Hey! My name is Grant. I just finished my freshman year at UNC Chapel Hill. I am double majoring in mathematics and business as I hope to become an actuary one day. I have been tutoring privately for over three years now and during my senior year of high school I worked at my local Mathnasium and helped students of all ages in their various math courses. I have loved math since I was a child and I try to share this with as many students as I can. I am different from other tutors because, as someone who recently graduated high school, I can relate to students in ways others can't. I know where they are coming from, their current curriculum, and I even remember the tough units they might be struggling with! I am able to explain difficult concepts in ways that will make sense to students. I got A's in all my math courses in high school and only missed one question on the math section of my SAT. I understand all the concepts and will be able to help your student understand them too. Families appreciate the hard work I put into my tutoring and show their appreciation by calling me back. I actually receive the majority of my new students through parents talking and referring me to their friends. My rate is only $25 per hour as my focus is to help not to overcharge. However, I recommend that we meet more than just once before a big test. Weekly or biweekly meetings will be most beneficial to your students understanding of math. I also prefer to have an idea of what type of work we will be doing before meetings so I can bring old notes and practice problems that often prove to be very helpful. As my summer break has just begun I am very flexible in scheduling lessons right now, just let me know what time works for you. I look forward to meeting you and helping your student develop a passion for mathematics!
