Experience Summary
My name is Camilla, I was born and raised in Brescia, a small town located in northern Italy where 9 years ago I began my career in teaching both Italian and ESL. I then moved to Richmond California just a few short years ago after meeting my husband who I originally met in San Francisco and decided to spend the rest of my life with. Moving to the United States has opened a window of opportunity to the world of online teaching; something I’ve become both very excited and passionate about.
I obtained a Master’s degree in Languages, Cultures and International Communication and a Bachelor’s degree in Linguistic and Cultural Mediation at the Università degli Studi in Milan, Italy. Both these educational paths have allowed me to expand my linguistic abilities in English, Italian and Spanish.
In 2014, my passion for teaching took me to England where I obtained the Cambridge TKT (Teaching Knowledge Test) Certificate, an award for language teachers, testing professional knowledge. The course enabled me to integrate new materials (newspaper articles, movies, songs, board games, artworks, etc.) in my lessons alongside the traditional grammar book. In fact, I believe that a dynamic approach to the language speeds the learning process up and makes lessons more interesting.
I have been teaching Italian and ESL for 9 years to all age groups both online and in person, I have developed course materials and language placement tests and mentored students to maximize understanding and performance.
I am creative, engaging, patient, organized, fun, determined, and I easily adapt to the pace and needs of my students. Having been a former graduate of languages and culture myself has helped me to understand the everyday challenges that students commonly face while learning a foreign language and, at the same time, has taught me how to motivate and keep learners passionate and interested.
Teaching Style
I am creative, engaging, patient, organized, fun, determined, and I easily adapt to the pace and needs of my students. Having been a former graduate of languages and culture myself has helped me to understand the everyday challenges that students commonly face while learning a foreign language and, at the same time, has taught me how to motivate and keep learners passionate and interested.
I always listen to my students' needs and objectives, I pay attention to their interest and create a program suitable for what they want to accomplish.
