Experience Summary
I have been in the field of Special Education for the last three years and I am extremely passionate about it. I am completing my Master's degree in Special Education with an English Language Arts endorsement. I have already passed my licensure tests and my Master's program will be complete in June. I am also a Certified Behavior Instructor for Children with Autism through Behavior Frontiers. I've taught in both the classroom and in-home tutoring environment. During my teaching career I've taught students with varying needs: ADD/ADHD, Autism, Learning Disabilities in all curricula areas, as well as children with Behavioral Disorders. I specialize in literacy and I use research-based programs, in addition to creative and engaging activities.
Teaching Style
My teaching style will depend largely on the goalof the student. When I am teaching literacy, I use research-based direct instruction programs, in conjunction with my own creative activities and games. I like to utilize educational technology when it's appropriate because I believe it engages the child while also fostering their learning. I am patient, compassionate, and my main goal as a clinician is to help my students learn.
My Hobbies
In my free time, I enjoy writing and reading. My Bachelor's degree is in English and I have always enjoyed writing short stories and articles. I do some freelance writing in my free time. I also really like to paint. I am an animal lover, I love them all! I love spending time with my family as well.
