Experience Summary
Above all, I have a heart for helping others. I have always strived to help others that are struggling, either socially, academically, financially, or spiritually. I have been involved in student teaching since I was a senior in high school. I have served as a student teacher at seven different schools. I have an Associate's Degree in Elementary Education and a Bachelor's Degree in Social Studies. I plan on getting my Teaching Certification this year with the state of the Rhode Island. I will also begin substitute teaching this year as well.
Teaching Style
I have a hands-on kind of approach. When tutoring one-on-one, I've found that students best respond to teaching when its centered around their goals and learning style. I get to know my students: their likes, dislikes, what they're good at, what they struggle with in school, and so on. This helps me better understand where they are coming from so that I can help them develop a learning experience that helps them master the art of being a lifelong learner. We never really stop learning just because we're out of school.
My Hobbies
I enjoy spending time with my family and close friends. I don't party or do anything that's considered drastic. I am a very spiritual person and believe in the power of prayer and the Bible. I also enjoy the occasional video game, TV show, and movie. I love the beach and enjoying nature in general. Music is something I enjoy immensely as well.
Other Comments
I am a Christian. I would not object to praying with you and your child(ren). I also understand that some parents would not want me to do this. Just know that I am not going to push any agendas onto you or your family members. I will not try to persuade you or your children to come to my church either. I can be as secular or as Christian-centered as need be. Please let me know at our introductory meeting what you would prefer.
