Experience Summary
I have tutored informally with several students in a caregiver role. I have also taught in after school and summer camp tutoring areas requiring improvement and teaching new concepts/skills. For two years I tutored/taught hearing impaired students in all subjects in middle school. This includes teaching literature skills, phonics, writing skills, and speech skills.
Teaching Style
My teaching style changes to each child. I can do one on one spoken teaching (auditory learners), pictures and videos (visual learners), manipulative and movements (kinesthetic learners). Since no one child learns only one way we would assess to find his or her primary and secondary learning style. For example, my six year old daughter is primarily a kinesthetic learner and a visual secondary. Most of our lessons consist of moving, online games, pictures, and videos. We do have to do some reading, listening, and answering questions as these are important skills to build.
My Hobbies
I absolutely love to read! I specifically enjoy nonfiction and British lit. I am an artist of all mediums and enjoy being creative. My children and I are active, dad is getting there.
