About Me

Experience Summary

“Make Greatness attainable by all.” –John Wooden, UCLA Coach Hello, my name is Kari, I would like to take this opportunity to share with you some of the distinguishing qualities I hold, which will complement the programs offered throughout Cincinnati Public School system. A Bachelor of Arts in Education from the University of Dayton licensure in Regular Education (1-8), Special Education (SLD) K-12. A Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction in the Early Childhood Classroom from National Louis University with a minor in Mathematics. Highly qualified in reading and math, have achieved outstanding Math OAA testing scores district and state wide with diverse populations and successfully completed a Reading Endorsement in June 2014 through Mayerson. Professionally, I have had many opportunities; the experiences have strengthened me professionally and nurtured an ability to work effectively with students. The work with students, supports strong trusting relationships which provide avenues for learners to progress and achieve academic success. Extensive experience with implementing engaging, active learning environments for students to grow, learn and take responsibility for their academic growth. A background in Special Education affords the ability to adapt curriculum and meet the needs of the individual learner. While working in Germany, the opportunity to assist in the development of an internationally recognized early year’s program, for children ages 3-6 years old presented itself. The International experience, supported the shift from teacher-centric approach to a student-centric environment. “Classroom are spaces which should be buzzing with energy and activity.” My work at the Frankfurt International School (FIS) fostered an understanding for providing rigorous content, sustained by effective teaching, in order to encourage individuals to develop their intelligences, creativity and character; whilst nurturing a love for learning. From May 2010 to Dec 2012, I held an active board position with the local chapter of National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC), which speaks to my true passion of advocating and working with children. Summer of 2014 a position with CISE Summer Learning Camp, provided an opportunity to work as a bilingual classroom teacher with PK students getting ready to enter Kindergarten. The chance to teach non-English speaking students again and to practice my Spanish was a professional aspiration. My successful work experience with English Language Learners (ELL) adds to my diversity and an ability to approach children’s learning with openness and respect. Copious experience in collaborative team work with peers, development and implementation of curriculum tied to Common Core and State Standards and execution of data driven long and short term learning goals. “Commitment, enthusiasm and perseverance lead to success.” Consequently, I am resolute in providing opportunities for academic success to all students through expectations that are challenging, leading to higher levels of engagement and improved student results. You will find I am broad minded, well rounded and highly motivated. I embrace diversity and believe our lives and the life of the community are enriched through our diversity. For this reason, I work effectively as a member of a team. Passionate about providing the expertise and support needed to help each student fulfill their potential and enthusiastic about contributing to the lives of others; all very compelling reasons for your consideration of my application. I look forward to speaking with you. “Collaboration, it turns out, is not a gift from the gods but a skill that requires effort and practice.” - Douglas B. Reeves, Transforming Professional Development Into Student Results
