Experience Summary
I graduated from Norfolk State University in May of 2013 with a bachelors of science in physics, so with that being said I have taken courses in subject like physics, calculus I and calculus II. I have tutored many of students on and off of campus in math subjects ranging from college algebra all the way up to differential equations in addition to physics subjects ranging from college level physics up to calculus based physics like quantum mechanics. With that being said I have numerous years of tutoring experiences for any subjects below and above calculus and physics. I was employed by Norfolk State University as a paid tutor where I tutored officially for 12 hours a week in physics and mathematics but most of my tutoring was volunteer since it was done on my free time. I still continue to tutor even after I have graduated from college, so I have been tutoring officially and unofficially in math and physics for six plus years now.
Teaching Style
My teaching style is to watch the student tackle problem(s) to see what he/she is lacking and give them tips along the way to help guide them and reduce future confusion and mistake making. This allows me to refrain from doing the student's work for them; therefore, the learning process stays in tact. However if the student is absolutely lost I will do multiple examples with as many different approaches to tackle the problem so that way he/she can choose what way of thinking and/or presentation works best for them. Teachers don't always give the student different ways as to how the solve a problem and this can be vital to one learning and mastering the material.
My Hobbies
On my spare time I love to learn about new things and solve exciting but challenging mathematical and physical problems.
Algebra |
Proficiency: Expert
|
I have been tutoring algebra officially and unofficially for at least six plus years now so i am very knowledgeable of functions, linear equations, exponents, inequalities, graphing, polynomials, factoring and radicals. |
Algebra I |
Proficiency: Expert
|
I have been tutoring algebra officially and unofficially for at least six plus years now so i am very knowledgeable of functions, linear equations, exponents, inequalities, graphing, polynomials, factoring and radicals. |
Algebra II |
Proficiency: Expert
|
I have been tutoring algebra officially and unofficially for at least six plus years now, so I am very familiar with systems of equations, trigonometry, radical expressions, sequences, series and logarithmic functions. |
Algebra III |
Proficiency: Expert
|
I have been tutoring algebra officially and unofficially for at least six plus years now. |
Calculus I |
This is one of my top subjects!
Proficiency: Expert
|
Calculus is my absolute favorite subject besides physics so naturally I love doing and helping others with calculus problems.I have been tutoring in calculus for six plus years so I can solve limit, continuity, derivative, curve sketching, chain rule and u-substitution problems. |
Calculus II |
Proficiency: Experienced
|
I have tutored my peers in calculuses ranging from 1 all the way up to differential equations so I have experience in Calculus II. I am very fond of trigonometric differentiation, trig. substitution, integration by parts, sequences, series and arc length. |
College Algebra |
This is one of my top subjects!
Proficiency: Expert
|
Throughout, and after, my college years I have tutored various students on and off campus in college level algebra so I am very adept in the subject matter. |
Physics |
This is one of my top subjects!
Proficiency: Experienced
|
I have bachelors degree in Physics from Norfolk State University and I have taken numerous physics courses ranging from fundamental physics to quantum mechanics. It is my second favorite subject and during undergrad I was the man to see if one needed help in physics. |
Pre-Algebra |
Proficiency: Expert
|
Tutoring in physics, calculus and lastly algebra requires the knowledge of pre-algrabra since they all utilize proportions, ratios, percents, fractions, real numbers, rational numbers, area, volume, perimeter so on and so forth; therefore, I am skilled in the tutoring in the topics of pre-algrabra as well. |
Pre-Calculus |
Proficiency: Expert
|
One cannot expect to learn or let alone master calculus without the proper foundation that comes from pre-calculus topics such as linear functions, quadratic functions, polynomial functions, radical functions, exponential functions, logarithmic functions, graphing functions, zeros of polynomials, completing the square, symmetry, translation and elections. I proficient in all of the pe-calculus topics aforementioned. |
