Experience Summary
I am a graduate of a Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program as of October 2014, completing my program with honors and a 3.85 GPA. I passed my SPI in February 2014 and received A's in all of my ultrasound physics courses. I am licensed in Abdominal Sonography as of November 2014 and am currently studying to take my RVT in early 2015. I have completed a clinical externship at White Memorial Medical Center where knowledge of the ultrasound equipment and general physics of sonography were practiced everyday. I was employed in two separate school districts as a tutor: 2007-2009 I worked for the Garden Grove School Distroct as an AVID tutor for two intermediate schools; from 2008-2012 I worked as a recreational leader for an after school program in the Long Beach unified school district where I tutored high schoolers in all areas of education.
Teaching Style
I like to break things down to its simplest form and build an understanding of the material vs. just memorizing facts. I have a great book and mock test program for the SPI as well as great lecture notes. My teaching and tutoring styles differ depending on the student; I like to hear how you best learn and adapt the experience appropriately. I think it is important to involve the student as much as possible, asking questions throughout the process to focus in on areas of misunderstanding and only moving forward when proficiency is met.
