Experience Summary
Hello! My name's Shashank, and I'm a foreign language tutor and teacher. I've been an avid learner of foreign languages in general for about four years now, so I'm very familiar with both traditional and self-study techniques.
I personally speak five languages: Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, Kannada and Hindi. However, I'm only offering lessons for the first three. I've studied Spanish up to the AP level at my high school, so I'm proficient in speaking, reading, and writing. I am also at nearly the equivalent for Italian, using an online course; I'm certified at the level Advanced I by CyberItalian, a site approved by CollegeBoard for preparation for the AP Italian Language and Culture Exam. As for Portuguese, while I'm largely self-taught, I'm fairly competent in speaking, reading, and writing it. I have authored guides to five different languages. I'm well-prepared to teach students from my guides and from my personal notes and other materials as well.
Teaching Style
I'll be using my personal notes and my original curricula to teach. I use a combination of the analytical and immersion approaches to help students, depending on their level in the language.
My Hobbies
I'm a big foreign language learner, so I spend a lot of my time doing that. When I'm not though, I play the flute and piano, and sometimes play video games. I also write stories and poetry, though most of my recent work consists of articles that I write on my blog.
Other Comments
I am a high school senior, so I do have a limited schedule. I cannot do weekdays, except for Fridays after 3:30pm. I have my own transportation, but I can't go too far.
