Experience Summary
I taught marketing in various college/university Schools of Business, full- and part-time, for nearly 10 years. I also tutored with Sylvan Learning. In addition, I work(ed) as a substitute teacher. Tutoring is an opportunity for me to assist individuals at all levels and walks of life to achieve their academic, business, and personal goals.
Teaching Style
I want to help students with specific assignments, but I also want to challenge them to progress further. I want to help students become motivated and committed to learning. Knowledge, and a good understanding of how to apply it, improves one's resourcefulness, analytic and problem-solving skills, decision-making, and self-confidence. One of the major advantages of tutoring is the ability to personalize lessons towards students’ specific needs, rate of understanding, and progress. Students will receive tailored tutoring sessions. Their progress will be assessed periodically (for instance, school test performance, or simple, short quizzing during tutoring sessions) in order to further adapt lessons to a pace that positively affects their unique learning process.
I want students, of all ages, to utilize the skills that they gain over time to develop a sense of direction and resourcefulness, to develop sound mechanisms for decision-making and dealing with challenges, and to feel a sense of accomplishment at various milestones of their lives now and in the future.
My Hobbies
I am an academic, creative individual, which explains my interests in business, marketing, and art-related fields. I am an entrepreneur, developing start-up companies related to fashion and accessories, and marketing consulting for entrepreneurs and businesses. I design jewelry, fashion, and accessories, and am working to turn my hobbies and interests into businesses.
As a college professor, I worked with local companies and non-profit organizations across various industries in developing strategic marketing plans via classroom activity and community service. I also advised student in organizations such as Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE). On various occasions, I lectured and presented workshops for graduating high school students and local businesses on the topic of small business marketing. I continue to seek opportunities to work with entrepreneurs and businesses through consulting and volunteering. I enjoy the challenges of developing products by hand, or using old and new technologies. In addition, I am motivated by creativity involved in developing strategies for success, especially in the face of financial, technological, and global limitations.
Other Comments
As a college professor, I advised students in extra-curricular activities aimed to enhance classroom learning (for instance, AMA, American Marketing Association, and SIFE, Students in Free Enterprise). I nominated students for awards, and encouraged them to aim for higher goals in which they were rewarded for exceptional efforts. I feel that motivation is necessary for individuals at any stage of learning. I also assisted students in career development, and seeking career opportunities in their areas of interest, as well as my field of expertise.
