Experience Summary
I have enjoyed a variety of experiences in my working career having had positions in the private, educational, governmental and public sectors. I am able to interact with many types of people and in many kinds of situations and competent in my ability as a communicator. I believe that I possess clarity and objectivity and that those are basic requirements for a position as a Tutor. I am able to explain and group difficult and multifaceted financial accounting information in ways that enable students to understand and ultimately accomplish their objectives of learning accounting. I am able to communicate those ideas with the written word via the analysis of financial statements and spreadsheet applications.
In November of 1998, I became the youngest elected County Auditor in Whitman County (a four-year term). I believe that it was because of my leadership and communication skills that I was elected in a county with a large agricultural economy, as well as, Washington State University. In 1999, I decided to continue my education and pursue a Masters of Business Administration on-line. I completed this goal in May of 2002. I passed the CPA exam in 1996. I have personally taught over 1200 online classes in the disciplines of Accounting, Finance, and Business. From this I have developed teaching strategies that have helped students achieve a working knowledge of GAAP principles.
I will always look for and endeavor to create opportunities for the advancement and benefit of those I tutor. From a teaching perspective, when you are looking for better ways of doing things or “designing pathways”, it is better to involve the student in the design stage in order to achieve a plan that will work. I believe in this approach when dealing with any situation needing a resolution. Most of the time, designing pathways is a team effort.
I feel a great sense of responsibility toward my profession and those I serve. I care about the learning of those I am involved with. I will always do my best to achieve student success. I have led a successful career in teaching accounting. What has led to this success is being able to keep deadlines, being available for my students and accomplishing assigned duties on time. I feel what has set me apart is that I treat each student as a unique person. I make sure their situation and needs are considered in each of their learning opportunities. I do not let my students wonder when I will get back to them. I pride myself in making sure the turnaround time of students asking for help seems like no time has passed! I am very passionate about accounting as this understanding can change a person’s life. I have successfully tutored hundreds of student in accounting with exceptional results.
