Other Comments
Don't let the fact that I'm a Licensed Funeral Director and Embalmer freak you out. It was actually this profession that sparked my desire to teach. I've had many interns serve their apprenticeships under my direction. I graduated with an art degree in 2008 during the recession. It was incredibly difficult to find a job during that time that allowed me to use my skill set. I had a passion for sculpture and portrait drawing, but that doesn't really play into a lot of real world career options. An acquaintance of mine sat down and talked to me about restorative art funeral service, restoring the features of people who had been in traumatic accidents so that their families could see them one last time and remember them in a more positive way than how they passed. I found the process to be incredibly interesting and the idea of a career with a high amount of job security to be promising. So, I went to mortuary school and now I use my art degree in a practical manner every day.
