Experience Summary
I am personally deaf, and I had learned American Sign Language at the age of three and use it as my primary language (other languages are English and Spanish). I'm passionate with teaching sign language, not only for students, but for family as well. I'd be so happy to teach parents ASL if they have their own deaf children or even children who have autism. ASL is a beautiful language! I had only experienced teaching to my family and hearing friends. I had also volunteered at preschool where deaf children were learning American Sign Language.
Other than American Sign Language, I can also help teach general topics of Human Sexuality. I have a minor in Human Sexuality and volunteered in Peer Health Exchange organization for a year. With students or parents' consent, I can teach certain topics such as female & male reproductive anatomy, how reproduction works, how menstruation process, some STIs (used to be known as STDs), use of contraceptives, advising positive thoughts, etc.
Teaching Style
Preferably to teach in person. Before teaching, I'd like to get to know you to to build knowledge about each other. Additionally, it is to learn your strengths, weaknesses, likes and dislikes. I can use various of teaching techniques, such as through flashcards, pictures, etc. I can adjust my teaching styles to fit what you like and need.
