About Me

Experience Summary

Hi there :) My name is Trish, I’m relatively new to University Tutor, but definitely not new to tutoring. I have approximately eight years of experience tutoring high school and college students from many of the schools (private and public) in the Baltimore area! During my time tutoring, I've had the great pleasure of working with exceptional (in many deifferent ways) students throughout their time in middle school, high school, and college, sharing my love of learning, supporting them in their goals, and helping them reach their fullest potential. Seeing the “lightbulb” moment, and getting happy texts whether with a 80% or an 100%, brighten my day. I'm currently a practicing engineer, consulting for medical device companies, and tutor in my free time as a side passion. My interdisciplinary experience and career has trained me to think about the ways that different topics converge, which I use while tutoring to help make difficult topics interesting, relatable and understandable for students. I also aim to instill critical thinking and enrichment techniques when tutoring, allowing students to move away from memorization and towards logical thinking and problem solving, which in turn helps them retain the information and score better on exams. When tutoring I also incorporate a comfortable and fun environment to promote learning. I feel that the more comfortable one is when learning, the more beneficial the lesson will be. Most importantly, I try to build students' confidence in order for them to feel comfortable asking questions and communicating their doubts. In this way I try to direct my teaching to each student's learning style and learning rate. I am available for sessions in person, and online, additional help/questions outside of sessions via text. My most substantial experience is in math (Pre-Algebra, Algebra, Geometry, Pre-Calculus, Calculus I/II, Differential Equations), science (Chemistry, Physics, Biology), and executive function coaching, however, for many students, I provide support with their entire courseload in addition to study skills/academic/college planning/counseling. I live in Baltimore City, do most of my tutoring in Towson, Roland Park, Pikesville, Cockeysville, Stevenson, Ellicott City, But am available in other areas and for online lessons as well. Please contact me with any questions you have. I look forward to helping you meet all your goals, big or small!
