Experience Summary
With nine years of tutoring experience for ages 7-45, I have found a great passion in life. I am full of tips and encouragement, believing that anyone can learn better math, writing, and more. I have worked with children with autism, ADHD, low processing skills, dyslexia, and more. I have taught both in the classroom and one-on-one, and I can happily tackle problems from Time-Telling to Integral Calculus. Comfortable with any student, I believe in making them relax, learn, and laugh. I survived college in three years and also passed the first actuarial exam on probability, but I never expect a student to magically understand tricky material in an instant. Instead, I enjoy leading them to that point.
Teaching Style
I am always prepared to help a student with homework and test preparation, but I also can teach a class from scratch, generate tests, or make up extra problems on the spot. Practice is the key, so I generally do not work out a bunch of problems and expect students to soak it all in. I let them have most of the fun and consistently ask, "What would you do next?" The pressure is off, however, and I will not allow them to feel cornered or confused without stepping in with hints. I can quickly learn where a student is in the material, and how quickly they learn. I follow that pattern to get them to the grade they want to earn.
