Experience Summary
Over the last 15 years I have taught reading, writing, math, and organizational/study skills in small group classes and 1:1 settings, both as a special education teacher and as a reading/math specialist. My teaching licensure is in special education, and I also have Wilson Reading Certification. I have been a private tutor for the last four years. My focus is on teaching language arts skills (reading and writing). I also work with students on improving their grammar and word usage in writing by providing editing assistance in person or on-line.
Teaching Style
I try to make each lesson multi-sensory and to cater to the student's individual learning style. I focus on teaching strategies and to, over time, generalize those learning strategies across the curriculum.
My Hobbies
Running, hiking, camping, reading, spending time with my two small children and family
