Experience Summary
Have degrees in Biology with minor in Chemistry. Taught for 21 years in science, math and Special Ed. involving all subjects to students with learning disabilities (reading, writing, math, history, science, social skills). Have taught adults in Biology at Tallahassee Community college and adult ed. math for students getting GED's. Have been doing private tutoring for 4 years.
Teaching Style
I use the Socratic method often asking students questions to make them think. I encourage research and exploration of different subjects by the student rather than just memorization. With students with learning disabilities, I get to know their individual learning style and tailor my teaching to that. This really helps them learn the way they best learn and boosts their confidence in themselves.
My Hobbies
Reading is my passion and I indulge whenever I can. My other interests are Photography, writing and cross word puzzles.
