Experience Summary
Hello! I am a licensed special education teacher with a master's degree in special education. I have taught K4/K5, 1st grade, 8th grade, and high school students with severe and multiple disabilities. My most recent job has been as an administrator at a non-profit that provides services to adults with autism. I am familiar with and enjoy working with students with autism spectrum disorders, behavioral disabilities, communication disabilities/students who are nonverbal, Down Syndrome, mental health disabilities, etc.
Teaching Style
I strongly believe that all students have the ability to learn and succeed in their own way. It is my job as a teacher to figure out the student's individualized learning style and support them in their learning goals. It is important for me to have high expectations for all my students, no matter the significance or severity of the disability.
Other Comments
My master's degree thesis is about teaching a first grade student with a behavioral disability sight words and reading confidence through the use of hands-on games and activities. I believe in making learning fun and catered to the individual with the use of sensory activities and technology.
