Experience Summary
After completing my first semester of medical school I realized I had been attempting an academic journey vital component. Even though I had been a successful student during my high school and undergraduate studies I never realized I had been missing my foundation. I realized I had never "learned how I learned." I had developed skills to memorize facts and perform well on examinations but I had never developed the ability to understand and tie together conceptual information. Understanding this component of education and seeing how often it is overlooked and underdeveloped is a principal element of my success in education and tutoring.
I have been working as an educator and tutor for several years and have adapted techniques for multiple learning styles. As an undergraduate student I worked with elementary aged students in varying courses at the local Youth Center. I have continued to work with students across various topics from all levels of education ranging from elementary ages to nursing and graduate students in the sciences.
Teaching Style
I like to begin by developing an understanding of the style which works best for each student and adjust my teaching style from there. Thus far techniques I have utilized include repetition, use of visual or auditory components, tactile components and question and answer periods. I am willing to develop any styles that you, as the student. wish to peruse.
