Experience Summary
My instructional mathematics career began as a 7th/8th grade mathematics teacher at John B. Hood Jr. High School in Dallas, Texas. Then, I attended the University of Texas at Dallas, receiving my masters degree in mathematics and specializing in applied mathematical analysis. During these years, I was a private junior high and high school mathematics tutor.
I furthered my teaching experience by serving as a part-time instructor in developmental mathematics and a part-time mathematics tutor in the Center for Independent Studies, all at Richland College in Dallas. Shortly thereafter, I was appointed as a year-long mathematics instructor at Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches, Texas. I then taught another year of high school mathematics in Dallas, and I was a part-time developmental math instructor for 3½ years at Eastfield College (Dallas County Community College District). Also, I taught college algebra and mathematics for liberal arts majors at various colleges in the Dallas area.
