Additional Policies:

Clients are asked to sign an agreement to pay for a month of tutoring on the day of the first session of each month. Should a session be missed, I work diligently to find a makeup time. Consistency is vital for the person who struggles to read, spell, and write expressively. Based upon the requirements of my primary intervention program, a client must commit to at least two one-hour sessions a week.

About Me

Experience Summary

** Private Tutor** January 2006 - Present ---------- **Member of District Diagnostic Testing Team** Pueblo City Schools September 2005 – August 2007--Pueblo, Colorado Area Member of the Pueblo City Schools Diagnostic Testing Team. Our team was required to "blitz" school sites several times a year to administer diagnostic tests to hundreds of students, score each battery of tests, and recommend targeted interventions. ---------- **Reading Consultant** Pueblo City Schools/Lindamood-Bell Learning Processes August 2001 – July 2005 Responsible for administering, teaching others how to administer, and coordinating diagnostic assessment in a school setting; grouping students by skill levels for remedial instruction; and training teachers to use Lindamood-Bell Learning Processes programs and intervention strategies. These programs included Lindamood Phonemic Sequencing (LiPS), Seeing Stars, and Visualizing & Verbalizing.

Teaching Style

Orton-Gillingham-influenced, simultaneously multisensory, explicit and systematic. I create a learning environment that is loving, encouraging, and enjoyable but still requires my students to work hard. Watching them flower in their abilities and confidence is one of the highlights of my life!

Other Comments

I am absolutely passionate about helping children and adults, who suffer both the academic and emotional effects of dyslexia. Reading and researching constantly, I intervene with strategies that are scientific and research-based. Working tirelessly to not only teach reading, spelling, and writing strategies, but also to boost the self-confidence of my students, I show them that with diligence and good instruction their hopes and dreams need not go unfulfilled just because they happen to be dyslexic.
