Experience Summary
My name is Jessica Grilli and I am currently a student of the University of California at Davis. I am majoring in English and minoring in Sociology and Education, as my future goal is to become a high school English teacher. I have seven years of experience tutoring students of all ages from elementary school to college level. I am great with kids, having grown up with seven brothers and sisters, and I have a passion for education. My areas of expertise are tutoring in critical reading and writing skills, grammar, and vocabulary. I can help your student reach their educational goals in any subject from creative writing, to study skills, to SAT and ACT preparation.
My experience volunteering at the Tech Museum in downtown San Jose has provided me with additional experience working with children and allowed me the opportunity to engage children and adults of all ages in the processes of scientific experiments and hands-on activities that are both fun and educational. In addition, my experience working as a writer and reporter for the California Aggie Newspaper at UC Davis has given me the opportunity to exercise multiple forms of writing as well as to hone my communication and interpersonal skills, in order to be a more well-rounded teacher with disciplines in multiple forms of writing. I have worked with many college students who have struggled with English, particularly essay writing, and have helped them to improve by an entire letter grade. I am well organized, flexible, reliable, and have years of experience in leadership and tutoring positions.
Strong reading and writing skills are highly valued by colleges, and it is my belief that effective communication through writing is one of the most essential skills necessary to become successful in any career. I look forward to helping you and your student meet your educational goals.

Teaching Style
I tend to have a hands-on approach to all of my tutoring methods, regardless of the subject. I want to make learning fun and take the stress out of tackling a challenging subject. I attempt to make any subject relatable to the student I am tutoring, and to provide multiple examples that are easy to understand. I break down seemingly complicated processes into simple and easy to remember steps.
My Hobbies
My own hobbies include reading and writing in my free time. I also enjoy singing, listening to music, and arts and crafts projects.
