About Me

Experience Summary

I am a sophomore Journalism major at San Antonio College. I tutor developmental English at my college, at The Writer's Block. I was a news reporter for my college's paper, The Ranger. I tutor college students in different subjects, not just English, and at varied levels. I help students with writing essays, analyses, reports, brainstorming, resumes, source citations (MLA and APA) and editing. $3 a page for editing! $20 an hour for tutoring sessions! Certified tutor by the Certified Reading and Learning Association and San Antonio College's developmental English lab, The Writer's Block!

Teaching Style

10 Step Process: 1. I start my tutoring sessions by going over the assignment requirements; what the teacher wants, citation types, formatting, etc. 2. Next, I find out where the student is in the writing process. 3. Depending where the student is in the process: a. If the student is at the beginning, we would start with brainstorming. b. If the student has already begun writing and done brainstorming, we would tackle the next step. 4. After brainstorming, we would write a thesis, or main idea expressing the student's point of view. 5. Next, an outline of the points found in the brainstorming process. 6. After the main points of the paper are established, the student should begin writing the paper; one point per paragraph or two. The student can also begin writing the introduction first if they so desire. 7. Introduction. 8. Read-through to check for grammar, sentence structure and organization. 9. Conclusion. 10. Source citations.

My Hobbies

I love to read, play guitar and sing.
