Experience Summary
Have tutored since 1999. BS in biology as well as medical degree with two years surgical/medical resident training. Have had to utilize knowledge of biologic sciences on a daily basis for 16 years. Have tutored/taught countless undergrads and medical students as well as patients. Able to communicate effectively with people from any socio economic background. Have educated students/patients ranging from billionaires to the homeless. Everyone is able to learn, it's only a matter of finding a teaching style that will benefit them the most. I have never seen a student fail that I have instructed that was willing to commit and work hard. I will lead any student who is willing to give their best to success.
Teaching Style
Having fun is a requirement. Learning in an environment where stress is taken out of the equation is paramount to retention of knowledge and key to success. I utilize anecdotal methods to convey concepts so that a student can relate the knowledge to how it fits into their own life or past experience.I try to get around rote learning when possible. However, when pure memorization is unavoidable, I have methods to incorporate that are tried and true and still hinge on the foundation of using anecdot. See one, do one, teach one is also another way I like to use. The student sees/learns, then does/uses what they've learned, and finally teaches the information back to me and/or someone else. This method allows a students to become an expert at what they are learning.
My Hobbies
Music/guitar, cooking, movies, learning, traveling, conversation, biking, hiking, and many more.
Other Comments
Having fun while learning is not optional, it is required. The best things in life we remember are associated with fun and being happy. I think too many instructors fail to realize this and that's how they loose people's attention and respect. If a student is willing to learn while having fun then that student will succeed.

Bio chem is an interesting field of study because it intergrates many disciplines of science to explain how and why things occur in the human body. It is fundemental to gaining a higher understanding of how the chemicals we produce and intake ultimately create the cellular activity that keeps the human machine functioning. |
