I went back and forth between living in Japan and America. Therefore, I have nearly a total of 3 years of experience in the ESL(English as a Second Language)/ELL(English Language Learners) program, the first year and a half in elementary school and a full high school freshman year. I've gone through processes from not knowing a single word in English to being nearly as proficient as a native English speaker. I assisted classes of my ESL/ELL teachers during sophomore, junior and senior year, and I understand what kind of assistance I can give to non-native English speakers of all levels. |
I am a native Japanese speaker, and I can use the language as fluently as those who live in native Japan. I attended a Japanese kindergarten, elementary, and junior high school in Japan. I have also attended and completed the Boston Japanese Language School, to which I've gone to every Saturday morning alongside with my regular high school studies. I also received a 5 on the AP Japanese exam. |
I began my piano studies at the age of three, and ever since, have continued serious commitment. I have participated in numerous musical activities including solo recitals, music/piano competitions (local and international), chamber music, and music festivals. I have received awards such as 1st place in the USA International Music Competition (Senior Division),MMTA Bay State Piano Competition, and the Brookline Music School Piano Competition, as well as 2nd place in the NEPTA Alice Hamlet Competition. I was accepted to several renowned music schools such as the Jacobs School of Music of Indiana University and the Schulich School of Music (McGill University). I have experience with the AP Music Theory course, and have received a 5 on the exam. I really enjoy working and playing with children, and it is one of my current passions. |
