Experience Summary
I'm a highly compassionate and approachable language teaching professional with a M.Ed in TESL (Teaching English as a Second Language).
With seven years of English language teaching in China and three years of Chinese language teaching in US, I feel my most satisfying experiences come from a great rapport between students and me. I love teaching Chinese to learners that come from diverse cultural backgrounds and at different levels. Based on my knowledge of second language acquisition theories and applied linguistics, I design and conduct my lessons by employing differentiated strategies that meet students' strengths and needs to help them develop their language skills and bridge them to Chinese culture.
Teaching Style
My teaching is learner-centered. For the benefits of my students, I employ a communicative approach with the aids of diverse teaching materials that help students understand the culture and society of the target language so that students can use the target language more effectively.
My goal is to foster and create an open, supportive, and success-oriented classroom environment that each student feels safe and appropriately challenged and then can be self-motivated and engaged into their language learning.
