Experience Summary
I have worked with youth in several settings from bedside tutor to lead English and Special Education teacher positions for the past 5 years. I tutored at bedside in Riley Childrens in 2007 and by 2008 I was working as an after school counselor in Indianapolis. I went on to proctor tests for students with special needs and new language learners at IUPUI in 2010. I had teacher observation experiences at George Washinton Community School, Crispis Attucks Middle School and Lawrence Central High School. My student teaching experience was 16 weeks of full time lead teaching which gave me all the responsibilities and authority of the teacher. For this experience, I taught general education English at Howe Academy followed by teaching both Inclusion English and Life Skills classes at Short Risge. This summer I engaged middle and high school
students in Creative Writing, resume development and independent reading, currently work part time with kindergarten.
Teaching Style
I am very creative by nature and a visual learner. I come with the ability to draw and teach through out of the box tangible ways as well as use traditional methods. I am patient but have high expectations for every student I encounter and push them to succeed. I can empathize with students having difficulty in school but never let them settle for less. The brain is like a muscle. Some of us just have to exercise more than others to be strong in particular subjects. aehosins@iupui.edu
My Hobbies
I enjoy reading, writing, animals, art, exercise, being outside and music.
