Experience Summary
Over 3 years using Modern Standard Arabic, completing the Defense Language Institute Foreign Language Center Modern Standard Arabic Basic Course, completing the Defense Language Proficiency Test with a 2 / 2+ / 2 in listening, reading, and speaking respectively. I love using the language and I would definitely enjoy sharing my experience with over 1800 class hours of Arabic study with a team of motivated native speakers from all across the Middle East and northern Africa.
Teaching Style
I look at learning the language globally, and I teach by helping students pull back their view and be able to look at the structure of the language as a whole rather than only rule by rule, using those rules to help build the structure in the long term. This style is proven to help earlier students pick up the beginnings of the language must faster, as well as helping longer-term students to more accept the language mentally.
My Hobbies
I am a member of the Utah Army National Guard, working as a linguist in human interactions and affairs. I spend a lot of time reading, writing, playing the guitar, and I love to go out and wander the city with friends and family.
