Experience Summary
Tutoring/teaching experience:
Kumon Academy, July 2011 – February 2012 (worked for about 7-12 hours a week)
? Teacher Assistant- I was responsible for helping elementary/middle school students in reading and math, and helped them with their classwork assignments.
IPSF (Irvine Public Schools Foundation), March 2010 – June 2012 (during the school year only, worked for about 4 hours/week on average)
? Afterschool tutoring at high school campus for freshman and sophomore students that need homework/test prep. I was assigned a specific student each year to work with, and would tutor about 3-4 times a week.
Private Tutor (March 2011 – June 2012, tutored on average 6 hours a week, charged min $15/hour)
? Tutoring various students during the school year in math & English. I have tutored a total of 5 students, in the subjects : Geometry, Algebra 2, FST, PSAT math, AP US History, and English
Teaching Style
I usually tend to go over the student's prior classwork just to see if there was any problems understanding parts of the lesson. Then I would move on to completing the homework with the student. If we have time left over, I make practice problems similar to the homework problems or preview the upcoming classwork so the student has a head start on the material and knows what to expect. Tests or quizzes are also prepared for extensively, and I would usually make problems that would cover the topics or use study guides/the textbook and review over the lessons.
