Experience Summary
I was an English Instructor in an elementary school in Germany. Up to 12 children (2nd Grade, ages 8-9 years). In addition, I taught English at a German Day Care facility where the children were between the ages of 2-5 years old. My responsibilities included teaching everyday vocabulary in a fun and exciting way.
The company that I worked for was contracted by the US Army in Europe to provide American children with special courses to enhance their experience in Europe. I taught German to US military family members (ages 6-18). I was responsible for creating an efficient and enriching curriculum. I provided the students with working materials as well as books and games. I offered homework support and tutoring for children of German and American families (German and English language). The ages varied from 1st Grade to college students.I worked as a freelancer to provide customers with translations and interpretations German/English. The following are the working fields that I gained experience in:
- Translating personal letters
- Interpreting official occasions (weddings)
- Supporting US Soldiers and their families with German paperwork, phone calls, and office errands
- Cultural Consulting
I have been working with Wyzeant (Tutoring Service) and with local law firms for document translation.
Teaching Style
I use the hands-on technique which combines written material as well as visual teaching (touch, feel, hear, and see). Music, CD's and worksheets are provided and create a trustworthy, fun, and educational environment.
