Experience Summary
After earning a degree in Elementary Education and Specific Learning Disabilities at Florida Southern College, I continued my education and received my Masters Degree in Guidance Counseling, at the University of South Florida as well as my Educational Specialist Degree in Educational Leadership through Nova Southeastern. Since then I have been a teacher and guidance counselor at all levels including elementary, middle, and high schools for the past 17 years. I am currently a 2nd grade teacher at Brentwood Elementary in Sarasota where I have worked for the past 5 years.
Teaching Style
I utilize hands-on learning throughout my classes intermixed with other individual techniques designed to suit each child's own learning style. I believe that teachers are in schools to serve the kids and I routinely pursue what is in the best interest of each student I work with. Communication with the adults in my students' lives is very important to me and I keep a constant chain of updates and communication going between myself and the parents at all times. With these tools and strategies I encourage my students to get more out of themselves than they ever thought possible. It is truly a joy to watch children learning.
My Hobbies
I am active with my six year old son, and five year old daughter. We are often shooting hoops or swimming.
