Experience Summary
After ten years of teaching English and special education (resource and self-contained classes), I have a renewed passion in helping students enhance their reading competency and confidence. My classroom experience and my recent training in Orton-Gillingham reading instruction have equipped me with sharper tools and diverse techniques to help students at any level to become better readers.
Teaching Style
Although I believe there are many strengths in both NATURAL READING programs and in ORTON-GILLINGHAM approaches, I believe that the best teaching style incorporates a variety of methods and taylors them to the individual. I also believe in strong encouragement and measurable progress so that the student can map his own improvement and obtain confidence in his abilities.
