Experience Summary
I was home-schooled until the sixth grade with my three brothers. I completed junior high at a private school and then graduated Salutatorian from a public high school. My parents operated a small day care that I worked in with school age children completing homework assignments. I have also worked in a Day Care as a caregiver for small children. Volunteering at a Family Literacy program and doing Student Practicums for three years followed by a semester of Student Teaching have all prepared me to teach children from all backgrounds with different educational and emotional needs.
Teaching Style
I believe that all students can learn. It is the teacher’s responsibility to teach the standards in the way that the students learn, and to create a nurturing environment for the students. Over the last four years, I have spent countless hours working in classrooms cultivating my ability to meet that responsibility. I have spent time working with students from many different cultures and socio-economic backgrounds. I understand that every student is unique and has unique needs, but they are all able to succeed with varying degrees of help. The teacher must be ready to provide that help when necessary and to teach every lesson in a way that embraces all three of the learning styles.
