Experience Summary
In 1999-2000, I provided highly individualized, one-on-one instruction in the client's homes while working with a local tutoring company. I am an experienced educator and state certified instructor with impeccable credentials and a heartfelt enthusiasm for teaching. More recently, I have tutored adults participating in an Adult Literacy Program. I assisted them in their GED preparation in Math and helped them set and reach their short-term educational goals. More recently, I worked with incarcerated individuals preparing them for the GED test, improving their testing skills, and promoting a positive environment for learning. I am actively tutoring students in Pre-Algebra on a weekly basis.
Teaching Style
Although instructors/tutors have a preferred teaching style, I will often mix in some elements of other styles. If I wish to take a more open approach to my teaching, I include a blend of various styles which is very effective. Teacher-centered, where the teacher is expert and authority in presenting information works well with students who need little direction from the instructor, and/or those who accept responsibility for their own learning. While in other situations, I will take a learner-centered approach thus viewing my role as more of a facilitator of student learning.
