Experience Summary
During my involvement with the Marine Corps Junior Reserve Office Training Corps, I contributed 2,000 hours of community enrichment education and tutoring to at risk and low income youth. As an Under Graduate student at the University of Arizona, my tutoring continued for high school and underclassmen students in the areas of Biology, Physiology and Anatomy. During my Graduate work at the University of Arizona, I independently taught laboratory sections for Reproductive Physiology and team taught 4 upper and lower division courses for the Department of Animal Sciences while continuing to tutor and mentor undergraduate and maintain a 3.6 GPA.
Teaching Style
I am a life long learner, but would not be if it were not for passionate and dedicated educators I have been fortunate enough to be inspired by. Now it is my turn to pay forward my passion and expertise in science. It is my personal belief that material, particularly science, should be presented in several ways: theoretical, practical and with implications. By providing a well rounded description of topical information in relation to the "big picture" students are better able to process and evaluate information. Manipulative or illustrative assistance is key in providing effective instruction in life sciences.
